My interest in solving the PS3 YLOD started when I was in the middle of playing COD4 and the console suddenly shut down with the PS3 Yellow Light of Death (YLOD). At this time this was something I’d only heard about – I hoped I would never experience the YLOD myself but it looks like it can happen to anyone.
My PS3 was out of warranty, and besides I didn’t fancy being without my system for 6 weeks (or indeed laying out $150 to Sony for repairs) so I decided to find out which was the best broken PS3 repair guide so I could sort it out myself. There’s a lot of substandard guides available but I managed to narrow it down to just 3 – PS3 Lights Fix, TLOD Repair Wizard and PS3 Fixer.
I’ve tried them all and my recommendation is PS3 Lights Fix – besides being more comprehensive than the others I found the guide and especially the step-by-step videos was the most easy to follow meaning that my broken PS3 was fixed and the YLOD eliminated in the shortest possible time. Plus it has a Members Area and Forum to – something the other two don’t have.
So you’ve got the YLOD now or you wouldn’t be reading this post.
Your Sony PS3 was fine. Now when you switch it on
- the console starts up normally for about 2-3 seconds,
- the console beeps 3 times while flashing a faint yellow light,
- the console continues to flash a red light.
And now you’d like to learn how you’ll be able to repair your broken PS3.
Up until now, if you wanted to repair your broken PS3 yourself, you could have have followed one of the very dubious guides available and maybe completely wrecked your PS3.
And it’s bordering on “myth” to think you are able to crack open the case of your PS3 and repair the trouble yourself with a soldering iron. The PS3 is an unforgiving piece of hi-tech kit, not a toaster. If you try a solder repair you’ll probably do more harm than good and your PS3 WILL be toast !
So what options are you left with?
You could take Sony’s advice and send your PS3 to them to repair on your behalf. If your broken PS3 is under warranty Sony will not charge you. But if your PS3 is out of warranty it will set you back $150 plus P&P, and you are not likely to see your refurbished console again for 4 to 6 weeks. A lot money and fuss just to repair YLOD on your broken PS3 plus you won’t be playing any games for over a month!
Even if your warranty is valid, there is yet the transport cost to look at, and you’ll be without your PS3 console for weeks and weeks!
Thank goodness that there’s now a safe, easy, quick and cheap way to fix the blinking red/yellow/green light and the red screen on your broken PS3 thanks to PS3LIGHTSFIX.COM. It is a perfect answer to the awful YLOD you get when your PS3 suffers a general hardware failure.
So now you can actually repair the YLOD on your broken PS3, and it usually takes under an hour !
